A not-for-profit community organisation, the Tea Tree Gully Toy Library lends a wide range of quality resources for children aged 0-12 years and for all children with additional needs. Established in 1979 and incorporated in 1981, we are managed by a Management Committee of parents and volunteers.
The Toy Library was originally opened in a transportable building provided by TTG council, and also supported a mobile toy library. After several moves within the regional centre, the toy library moved to an unused classroom at Modbury Primary School in 1993. Ten years later, accommodation needed to be considered again as the building was planned for demolition. After several years of negotiation, an agreement was made between the SA government and City of Tea Tree Gully and funding was provided by the SA government. to accommodate the toy library within the Tea Tree Gully Library. In April 2008, the Toy Library entered into an agreement with the Tea Tree Gully Council and moved into its new rooms inside the Tea Tree Gully Library, reopening on Tuesday 6th May 2008.
Our AGM is held each September and members are encouraged to support us by attending. We always need more assistance and welcome any help you are able to give. A State Government grant assists with our operating costs, however fundraising and membership fees are essential to meet all expenses and purchases of new toys.
